FAITH LEITH FOR STATE ASSEMBLY – PUT FAITH IN OUR DISTRICT

Faith’s Priorities

affordable healthcareAffordable Healthcare  – No one should go bankrupt because they need healthcare.  The Affordable Care Act is a good beginning but we need a public option.  Oregon has gone a long way in this regard.  We still have a lot of work to do to give folks the peace of mind that truly affordable care provides.

affordable housingAffordable Housing  —  With help from the state we can and should aid those among us who are homeless or struggling to pay the rent.  Other cities have built tiny house “villages”.  We need to seek solutions that are cost effective and humane.

alternative farming

Alternative Farming to Conserve Water  —  Farmers and ranchers in the basin are facing challenges with climate change and droughts now and in the future.  I believe in science and I agree with 97% of the scientists in the world that climate change is real and needs to be addressed now.  Growing alfalfa to ship to China may not be the best option when other crops require 75% less water.  Switching crops and growing techniques to deal with the water issues is no longer an option.  It is a necessity.  With state help the transition can happen in the near future.

jobs in alternative energy

Jobs in Renewable Energy  —  The Klamath basin could and should become the solar and wind energy capital of Oregon.  These are jobs for the 21st century.  We should not be buying wind energy blades from Germany.
